Johnstown Jets Hockey 2013-2014 Little Jets!

Young players ages 5 – 8 can now be a  Jet in the Mite ADM program.  The program will follow the USA Hockey Red, White and Blue Hockey Initiative and comply with the policies and procedures of the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League’s Mite ADM program.

Players in the program will be treated to high tempo ADM practices incorporating skill development into stations comprised of small groups designed to keep the kids active and participating at all times during practice.  In addition, the Jets’ ADM players will participate in several Mite Jamborees with neighboring PAHL organizations during the course of the season. Beginner to advanced players are welcomed and there are NO tryouts.  Everyone makes the team.

There are 2 ways to register for the program:

1. The Johnstown Jets will conduct a Mite ADM open house on Saturday, May 4th  from 5:45-6:45pm at Planet Ice.  Prospective players will enjoy an hour long ADM formatted practice session conducted by the Johnstown Jets coaching staff.  Members of the Jets’ coaching staff will be available following the session to answer any questions or provide more information.  Registrations will be accepted during the session.

2. If you are unable to attend the open house and would like to be a part of the “Little Jets” please fill out the forms below and email to johnstownjets@gmail.com or mail to:

The Johnstown Jets Amateur Hockey Development Program is proud to announce its tryout information for the 2013-14 season.  Entering its sixth season, the Jets strive to provide the finest amateur hockey program in the area.  For this season, the program will expand to incorporate more opportunities for players of all ages.

The Jets want to make sure that every squirt and pee-wee aged players will have the opportunity to participate on a Jets Team for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. The Jets can not make a guarantee of a roster position; however, every effort will be made to create as many squirt and pee-wee teams needed to ensure the players have the opportunity to participate on a Jets Travel Team.

Attendance at all sessions is strongly encouraged as the more the evaluators see you, the more accurate placement can be made.  Please notify a member of the Jets’ organization if unable to attend a session.

REGISTRATION – All players can Pre-Register for the tryouts via the Jets’ website at www.johnstownjets.net by downloading forms at the bottom of this page.  If not pre-registering,  players must present payment and registration form at time of arrival on the night of their first session.  Any outstanding balances from previous seasons must be resolved prior to allowing a player to participate in the tryout sessions.  Pre-Registrations can be sent to PO Box 5153;  Johnstown, Pa. 15904

COST – Two checks will be presented at the time of arrival prior to the first tryout session.

1) $35 check payable to “Johnstown Jets” for non-refundable tryout fee if you did not pre-register before March 30^th for $25

2) $250 commitment fee check payable to “Johnstown Jets”.

Johnstown Jets Hockey 2013-2014 Taking flight with the Little Jets!

The Johnstown Jets Amateur Hockey Development Program is proud to announce the 2^nd season for the Little Jets.  During the 2012-2013 Hockey Season, the Johnstown Jets initiated their Mite/ADM Hockey Program.  The Johnstown Jets look forward to the upcoming Mite/ADM Season.

As part of the Jets’ expansion of its program, young players 8 and under can now be a jet in the new Mite ADM program.  No tryouts are required and all skill levels from beginners to advanced are welcome.  The program will follow the USA Hockey Red, White and Blue Hockey Initiative and comply with the policies and procedures of the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League’s Mite ADM program.

Players in the program will be treated to high tempo ADM practices incorporating skill development into stations comprised of small groups designed to keep the kids active and participating at all times during practice.  In addition, the Jets’ ADM players will participate in several Mite Jamborees with neighboring PAHL organizations during the course of the season.

The Johnstown Jets Amateur Hockey league emphasizes the importance of properly developing the skills of young hockey players.  Former professional player’s oversee and coordinate the Little Jets Mites/ADM Hockey program.  The former professional hockey players are all USA hockey certified coaches, who provide hands on training to each player.  The coaches ensure that the players perform proper hockey technique, while practicing each drill.  No player is left behind.  Individual attention is provided to each player.  Each player must properly perform the exercise before moving on to the next drill.

Peewee white is off to Indiana for an 8:45 am game in Indiana Saturday morning. In a division of 15 teams they finished in 5th place with a record of 12-6-2 for 26 points.

PAHL League Record:   10-8-2   22 pts.     Finished 5th Place

Overall Record:   17-16-2

Will play PAHL playoffs at Bladerunners – Cranberry    1st round vs. North Pittsburgh

Team will play in Mid-Am District Tier II State Playoffs – March 8-10 at Ice Castle in Pittsburgh.  State Champion earns the right to play in the USA Hockey Tier II 18U National Championship.

In taking a greater role in the development of youth hockey in West-Central

Pennsylvania, the Johnstown Jets in conjunction with Planet Ice and SMG

Cambria County War Memorial are proud to announce that they will be

conducting its fifth annual President’s Day Invitational in Johnstown, Pa.

Our local hockey community looks to continue to develop a tradition of hosting first-class

tournaments with excellent competition in an exceptional tournament

atmosphere. The tournament will look to attract teams from all over Western

Pennsylvania and beyond as well as local talent to showcase youth hockey in

our region.

The tournament will be held on February 16th, 17th, and 18th with games

being held at Planet Ice in Richland Township, North Central Recreation

Center in Ebensburg, and the historic Cambria County War Memorial Arena in

downtown Johnstown, currently the home of the Johnstown Tomahawks Tier II Jr. A Team competing in

the North American Hockey League, and the focal point of the motion picture “Slap Shot” starring the late Paul Newman.

Teams entering the tournament will be guaranteed four games played during

the course of the weekend with evenly matched competition. In addition to

the action on the ice, those attending the tournament will be treated to

various giveaways, 50/50 drawings, an on-site photographer providing action

photos for sale, and official tournament merchandise for purchase. In

addition, there will be no admission fees charged for spectators to attend

the tournament.

The Tomahawks will play at home on Saturday, February 17^th against the Wenatchee Wild.  The

tournament schedule will allow for all teams to be able to attend.  Special group rates will be available by

The Richland and Somerset Varsity Hockey Programs will host a charity hockey game on December 23^rd at 6:30 PM at Planet Ice.  It will be a charity double-header featuring the Richland Rams and the Somerset Eagles.  The Rams vs The Eagles (Varsity) game will be directly followed by a Richland Rams vs Somerset Eagles Alumni Game.  Come out and join us for some good ole fashion family fun.  There will be door prizes, raffles, silent auctions, between period entertainment, the United States Army Honor Guard and the Johnstown Tomahawks will be on hand to sign autographs…  All helping to support a local hockey reffing legend Todd Euen, who is battling Leukemia.

Admission is free (for both games) donations are appreciated.

If your son or daughter plays hockey have them wear their jersey and they will be entered to win hockey prizes such as equipment, sticks, ect!

All proceeds will go to Todd Euen and his family.
